About East Torrens CFS Group

The East Torrens Group is comprised of nine CFS brigades within a geographic area, loosely based on the old East Torrens Council district, with a few additions.

The Group provides an administrative and operational structure to which the brigades belong.

The Group has a rank structure, headed by a Group Officer. The Group Officer is an elected position, and is a volunteer position.

The East Torrens Group has one Deputy Group Officer (DGO).

There are several other Group positions, which support the running of brigades. The positions include Administration Coordinator, Finance Coordinator, Communications Coordinator, Equipment Coordinator, Purchasing Officer, Cadet Coordinator and more.

All Group positions are volunteer positions, and are elected by brigades.

The East Torrens Group has two command vehicles, and a Logistics vehicle.

East Torrens Car 1 is a Holden Jackroo. It is fitted with several CFS radios, both GRN and VHF, as well as a GPS Unit.

East Torrens Car 2 is a Mitsubishi Pajero, which was delivered in Sept 2011. It is fitted with several CFS radios. (GRN & VHF) and a GPS

East Torrens Logistics is an Isuzu D-Max twin cab ute, with a canopy. It is fitted with CFS radios (GRN & VHF).

The new East Torrens Group Control Centre

The New East Torrens Group Control Centre (formerly known as a Group base) is now fully up and running at its new location – Greenhill Rd Uraidla- in the former RSL Hall.

Renovations to the Hall have been extensive, and are now complete.

The new Group Control Centre (GCC) includes a a large central area, able to be used for meetings, and for use by an Incident Management Team during an incident. There are separate offices for use by the incident controller, a seperate communications room, equipment store and newly fitted out kitchen.

The toilets have also been extensively upgraded.
