The Athelstone Brigade has been operational since 1961, serving the local area. The Brigade’s primary response area is the Athelstone, Rostrevor and Woodforde areas of the North Eastern foothills of Adelaide, South Australia. The primary response area is bordered by Silkes, Stradbroke, Glen Stuart and Morialta Roads. This area covers the Black Hill Conservation Park as well a number of residential and other structures.

As the Athelstone Brigade is located on the urban fringe, it provides support under mutual aid arrangements to the South Australian Metropolitan Fire Service
